It is known that there are many strange and powerful forces that drive our world. One of those forces is Time itself.
One would think that time is a simple concept, where it moves forward simply with nothing else to it. In its simplest form, this is true.
However, there is more to it than meets the eye. Time is not a well-oiled machine that runs on its own, there are those who must often tend to this machine, because just like any other machine, it often has glitches and is in need of repair.
That is where The Chronor come in.
The Chronor are a clan of humans blessed--or cursed, you choose--with the powers of time manipulation and given technology that does the same. They were tasked with keeping the timelines and such in order by preventing paradoxes, and to keep those who do not understand time from meddling in it. However, The Chronor did not start this way.
They started as normal human beings, living in a simple village, around the time of the dark ages (476–800 ce). They were attacked by ruthless invaders, forcing them to flee into the unforgiving winter forest. Their story would have ended there, if not for a strange figure approaching them in the cold and granting them with the power of time.
Their original purpose was to manipulate the timelines in favor of this strange deity, whose name has been long forgotten, however after said deity vanished, they were left to their own devices, and nearly tore themselves apart until they were given the task of preventing anomalies within timelines as well as paradoxes by Nicashorette and Alya. All of the Chronor used to reside in one settlement known as Pendulum, all living together in harmony. However, as time went on, the settlement was divided into three different "houses", each one reinforcing the rules of time in their own manner. Each House of the clan were each given a unique power that they would pass down each generation.
The Protus--That were led by Elken Protus--Were The Protectors, who strictly enforced the time restraints with an iron fist and stood by their deity with unwavering loyalty. They were quick to punish those who broke the laws of time, but they saw themselves as above the law and would often abuse their abilities to get the job done. They were known as knights and mighty warriors who stuck to using swords, shields, blunt weapons and brute force to reinforce their powerful image. They were given the power to eternally preserve their weapons, and the next generation would have the ability to summon the past weapons at will.
The Kavir--That were led by Syphona Kavir-- were The Balancers, and they were to insure that neither of the other clans became too unruly, and were responsible with dealing with outcasts who may have abused their time manipulating abilities. They were the true neutrals neither aiding or opposing their deity. They often took up the rogue or ninja class to get things done quickly but quietly. They were given the all-seeing eye, which allowed them to see the past, present and future, for the cost of their sanity.
The Libero--That were led by Tamir Libero-- Were The Liberators, and they opposed the time laws greatly. They often would cause trouble with the Protus, stating that their ways were foolish and that they were blindly following a corrupt leader. They would often get into skirmishes with the Protus, causing small fights to break out before they were eventually put out by the Kavir. The libero often acted as business professionals, utilizing the technologies that were available to them. They were given the sands of time, which had the ability to nullify the effects of time manipulation completely and utterly.
Along with these three clans, the Chronor also had a Council with six members--two members from each clan house--plus a leader; they were often the ones who made the final say on laws and trials. Their leader however was a special man, "immortal" in a way. Latius, The Sage Chronus, Leader of the entire clan and a prophet of The gods. What made him so special was that he is a collective intelligence of the entire clan. When a member of the clan dies, their being and memories are accessible to him, and combine with the others that have passed away, making him a living archive. He can switch his own awareness between consciousnesses of each persona within him.
However, since the fall of that deity, The Chronor fell into chaos, the three houses now fighting among each other for no reason and trying to find a purpose for what they did. The Libero claimed that they were right and The Protus claimed a second coming of their god, and the Kavir? They were caught in all the chaos, members of the family being issued cruel and unusual punishments by the council if they tried to flee--however, the council was doing this outside of Latius' control.
Eventually, the disagreements escalated even further and further out of control, the skirmishes turning into a full blown battle when two of the young Chronor from the newest generation --Razon and Klock--tried to intervene. The battle was horrific, leaving only a handful of chronor alive and several more lost to a technique known as the "Chronosphere"; a powerful attack that erased all who were caught within it from time and space.
Now with the Chronor left torn and in shambles, the few heads of the families that were left --Among those few Tamir and Syphona --Took it upon themselves to simply allow the remaining Chronor to live out in the world with others and socialize, in hopes that they could better recover among others that weren't plagued by the madness that seemed so common among the clan.
With the few remaining Chronor left to act freely, the majority of the clan managed to finally find peace, while the few leaders left are trying their best to deal with any anomalies that can be found.
