Name: The Vernavi
An Ancient race of purely magical creatures -- they are said to be the children of the gods and often live among said deities as their friends. Magic is their blood
Distinguishing Features:
The Vernavi look prominently humanoid, however they tend to be much taller and athletic than humans, and have an average height between five and seven feet. They are ephemeral in their appearances, their hair seeming to flow around them as if it has a life of its own, and seems to hold a depth to it, as it appears to hold stars and galaxies within it. All along the back of their bodies they have tattoos or markings that always give off a dull glow, which matches the glow that is always present within their often brightly colored eyes. Some even seem to have darker specks within their eyes that make them look as if the stars themselves float within their eyes. They are not pompous or snobbish, but most carry themselves with an elegance and stature that bring them respect.
Natural Abilities:
Their life source, unlike other creatures with magic, is actually pure magic, giving them more sensitivity to magic fluctuations and magical corruptions. This also means they can manipulate magic better than almost any other creature.
They have a very high--or rather, prominent-- natural ambient magic that resonates from their being, the 'ambience' they give off varies from person to person, but can always be felt in close vicinity of one. They can use magic in a wide variety of ways, even beyond things that are capable by the most able of magic-able beings such as forging physical weapons or armor from pure energy, and even build physical structures from it that can have extra and odd properties to it, depending upon what type of attunement it is given.
They can break down physical objects into a pure form of energy and store them within crystals, or even within themselves to be called upon or used later. Within this broken down form, more knowledgeable Vernavi can even alter the properties of regular objects and put them back together as something completely new, said act however can be taxing on them physically. The larger the object, the harder it is to alter and change it.
They also have the ability to communicate directly with one another, directly sharing memories to each other across long distances through a meditation-like state, and even have entire conversations in the span of a few moments. They can also share memories with other non-Vernavi through direct touch, however it tends to be very taxing on the other person's body.
Religious Views: Vernavi feel that magic is something that is good and sacred to the world, but don't view it as some sort of god or anything, but they feel as if magic is something the world needs to survive, and that all should have access to it, but that doesn't mean they won't look down on someone who abuses it. The Vernavi are commonly viewed as protectors of magic and life, and their race is said to be as older than the world itself. They're always ready to learn and lend their aid to others in need. To befriend a Vernavi is to have a friend and protector for life, and perhaps even beyond.
Other Points:
Their ability to forge and change energy and magic at will can be used in all sorts of ways, and can even extend to forging someone else's energy potential into something more refined, or even reshaping their magical/energy type, however, this is an ability only the very skilled can use.
Magic/ Energy Vampirisim:
As of the last few hundred years, there have been reported cases of Vernavi preying on other creatures, and even their own for energy and magic power. While it does give them incredible strength and power, it causes them to be dependent upon it, as it they were to stop, their sudden drop in power would cause them to go into shock and die. There are also other many drawbacks to this, and as such is seen as a taboo among their kind.
