Race: Dreamcallers
Said to have been born of dreams themselves, Dreamcallers are an old race of magically potent human-like creatures that have tapped into the dreaming realm via a combination of both magic and ancient technology, to bring dreams into our realm as physical manifestations.
Distinguishing Features:
Most look like normal humans, but they often have a very airy almost fairy-like appearance to them, usually very slender looking. They have skin that ranges in light pastel like colors ((very light of any color like blue, pink, green, brown, red etc.)) but ones with human-like tones can often be easily mistaken for humans. They usually have a very light aura about them, often making the air around them look fuzzy and faint, as if it were a dream. Their most distinguishing feature however are their bright eyes, which are almost like kaleidoscopes and constantly shift in color.
Natural Abilities:
Able to manifest dreams and nightmares into physical entities such as animals, spirits and even weapons. Said dream and/or nightmare can take the form of anything within the bounds of the dream it originated from. Dreams and Nightmares can be manifested into anything from people, creatures and beings to physical weapons and objects, but it is more the norm for them to take on a living form, acting as a familiar to their creator. The limit to how many dreams/nightmares a Dreamcaller can summon at once, depends on their mental strength and constitution.
Common Religious views:
They consider dreams a sacred thing, saying that in a way, they reveal the true essence and nature of a person. They consider them personal and deep, and sharing dreams with one is considered an almost intimate act.
Other points:
When born, Dreamcallers are known for sleeping anywhere from a year up to five years in a comatose like state as their dream manifests--and the entire time they spend within a dream or the dream realm, building and creating their dream. Dreamcallers also can manifest others' dreams and nightmares into weapons or familiars as well; with this, they can quickly learn about someone in great detail, although this comes with a slight drawback, as they tend to unconsciously mimic the personality of the person they obtained the dream from until the relinquish it back to said person afterwards. Nightmares tend to be very dark and evil-looking and tend to take on the form of more ferocious-looking creatures, monsters and weapons.
The Island of Dreams
Also known to the Dreamcallers as "The Island of the Dreaming", The Island of Dreams is a place where the world of dreams and reality meet, creating a strange, somewhat distorted and exaggerated world, where one's dreams can come to life. While at surface level it may seem dreamy, safe and inciting, it has many dangers that are only limited by the bounds of one's mind--meaning that nearly anything can happen. both dreams and nightmares can be dangerous here to the unsuspected.
The Island of Dreams is what the Dreamcallers call home, and they reside in a small, peaceful village made up of small stone dome-like homes and buildings. Resting on the far coast of the island lies their temple, where they teach the new generations how to use their powers and communicate with the dream world--one could call it a utopia. They do not have any sort of modern technology here, and don't know anything of it due to the fact they isolated themselves from the outside world long ago during the war, the island acting as a natural barrier and deterrent to any who may seek to harm them; Although, this does not mean they are hostile or mean to anyone who strays onto their island--but it's rare that anyone would make it far enough into the island to warrant their attention.
