Prosthecium
A unique metal alloy discovered half a century ago in the eastern continental deserts. A strange material that is capable of morphing and shaping itself according to the user's whims, and found in a strange tomb that had once appeared to have been guarded. In addition, it even seemed to be containing something in its walls, but whatever was there had broken free of its restraints, and the metallic restraints were retrieved by scientists. Studies over the latter half of the last century revealed it to be a unique alloy mixture of silver, orichalcum, and spirit stone. The silver and orichalcum leave the metal soft while the spirit stone allows it to react to the user's whims, though without proper tempering the raw mixture is radioactive and damages the psyche directly before tearing apart the body.
Recent studies showed that once tempered the alloy has surprising properties that respond differently to each person. On some it can set aflame painlessly, on others it can grant a comfortable warm sensation, and son on and so forth. However, the most important feature seemed that whenever events that causes emotions to run high the alloy can actually morph itself to a new form and achieve new abilities which the scientists have dubbed it as "Ascension."
With this discovery, scientists scrambled to recreate and temper the alloy to create new advancements in magitech, and eventually it peaked at 3 points. Medicinal facilities, Rail Riding shoes, and Coat of Arms.
Rail Riders use a particular version of the alloy enchanted to levitate and move according to the user's weight in a direction. Attached to shoes, they can act as autonomous skates. A simple endeavor, however people learned that going slow is not nearly as entertaining as going absurdly fast, so they removed the limiters on their rails and proved, after near accidents were barely scathed, that rails can be maintained safely with unlocked speeds. With that new rail variants like street, pro, and underground began to be sold in stores and in the streets to promote the culture of rail riding we have today. Rails have been known to take on different properties and ascend for a while now, so names for common varieties of rails have been coined by the street culture of rail riders.
Coat of Arms are a special scenario for the alloy's use, as they are used to make what are essentially magitech armors. They can be summoned forth from vocal command on a piece of jewelry or bangle on the user's body, and thus covers the user in the suit of armor. It is still in the prototype stage, and is meant for companies to advertise themselves while also promoting a good cause, as the users are trained professionals in handling crime or monster attack. In a way, the original creators thought it funny to have the system work suspiciously close to a team of TV superheroes and have his idol friend don the suit as a joke, but also with trust in mind. However, with production of coat of arms accelerating, the black market's knowledge on how to create their own and villains becoming able to use their own suits rises with each day, and it is only a matter of time before super villains begin to run amok. Coat of Arms are THEORIZED to be able to ascend, they should anyways. However, nobody has witnessed any of their users actually ascending yet. Like rails and the original alloy, the coat of arms modifies the shape and style of the armor to fit the user, and the abilities the armor can use match the theme of the armor. Armors however do seem to fall under an archetype following stereotypes of warriors and magicians, such as The bandit, The Knight, The Rogue, The Priest, The Ninja, The Archer, so on and so forth with varying degrees of style and resemblance.
